Hi everyone! My name is Marjet. I am currently abroad for my minor in Finnish Lapland. I am at the University of Lapland which is in a small town called Rovaniemi. At the university here I am doing the Arctic Studies Programme, this is a minor solely focused on everything about the Arctic. There are multiple courses that talk about different topics all related to the Arctic. Coincidently one of my friends also got accepted to the same university. I arrived here at the beginning of August and Heidi arrived a few days later. In the beginning, I really had to find my way, but quickly I started making friends and got roommates, and everything became so much fun.
Our school started in the beginning of September, so in August I had the chance to go on a trip with Heidi and another friend, we went to the North Cape in Norway and soon we will be going to TromsØ and the Lofoten. A few weeks ago we had ‘Ruska’, this is the time where all the leaves on the trees are starting to change colours and it makes everything look so much more beautiful, so this is a perfect time for hikes, to enjoy the stunning sceneries. So, if you like to be outdoors and to go hiking, bike riding or just enjoying nature but you also want the comfort of a small town with a variety of shops, cafes and supermarkets, Rovaniemi is the place to be!
