Hi everyone! My name is Anna and I am currently doing my minor in Alicante. I have always wanted to live somewhere that has a better climate, and what’s a better place than the sunniest city of Europe? In December it’s still 20 degrees and sunny, and in November we were still going to the beach!
At the University of Alicante I follow courses from the tourism and the sociology faculty, because Wageningen had an agreement with these faculties. At first, the communication with the university was a bit tricky, but we figured it out and the mobility office is always ready to
help. The classes are very mixed with students from all over the world, which can be quite interesting. I also just finished a Spanish course, with was a lot of fun (and very useful).
Alicante is a really great place to live, the atmosphere is so warm and I always feel safe, even in the middle of the night. It is not a huge city but there are so many fun activities to do: like climbing the Santa Barbara castle, going to the beach or going club-hopping.
I met a group of Dutch girls right at the beginning, and even though I expected to have more international friends, we have such a great time and go on many trips together. So far, we went to Madrid, Sevilla and we went hiking several times in the
mountains. ESN also organizes weekly activities which can be fun to join.
Overall, studying in Alicante has been an amazing experience, and I plan to enjoy the sun to the fullest during my last month here!
